First, a Big Hello goes out to all! Thanks for checking out this website and our quest to stop computer computer freezes forever!

Let’s take a moment here today and look at some reason why a computer freezes up and what causes it to run like crap. Everyone who uses a computer has had their machine freeze up on them at some point. It always seems to happen right when your in the middle of working on something really important.

If we were to write one single post that listed all of the reason why a computer freezes, then it would be one long post. There are countless reason as to why it happens. We at ComputerFreezes.net hope to provide answers to your questions and give great tips and advice to keep your computer running in tip-top shape.

When it comes down to it, there are two main categories that you can put computer freezes into: Hardware and Software. You have the machine itself made up of things such as your Motherboard, Cpu, Ram, Video and so on. Then on the software side, you have your operating system along with all of the other software you have installed. Having a glitch or an issue with anything in either one of these two main categories can cause your computer to freeze up randomly.

Let’s take a look into the hardware side of things. We won’t be really digging too deep in this first post, but lets get you up to speed on some basics. When your talking hardware, your RAM, CPU and Video card are ultra important. If your machine doesn’t have sufficient memory for the tasks you are doing on your computer, this will cause an instant computer freeze. Typically, the system won’t reboot, but it will just become non-responsive and you have have to do a hard shutdown. As far as the CPU and Video card go, it is all about heat with these 2 units. The video card of today’s age are pretty heavy duty, and a lot of them have their own dedicated fan. If either one of these components exceeds their max temperature, you will encounter a computer lock up.

Now let’s take closer look at the software side of things. We really could go on for days on how software can really screw a machine up and cause to to freeze randomly. In future blogs, we will dive deeper into this and try to provide solutions to either prevent or stop this from happening.

Seeing that Microsoft has 90% of the market share when it comes to computer operating systems, you can really expect no less than to have your computer freeze up from time to time. Don’t get me wrong, XP was and is a pretty solid OS and we will see how Windows 7 plays out.

Another really problematic piece of software are hardware drivers. This is software that tells your specifc hardware how to talk to and communicate with the OS. If you OS downloads a specific update or changes in a small way, this can cause a hardware driver to stop working and can produce all kinds of problems with your computer.

We definately don’t want to leave out spyware, malware and viruses. These pieces of software are becoming so complex and look so real to the average user that these are usually the main culprits when it comes to computer freezes. Having been in the IT Consulting realm for over 10 years, I should now. It seems like there isn’t a day that goes by that I am not trying to clean up a machine that has a malicious piece of software on it.

Ok, so we have covered a few of the basics on what causes computer freezes. We will be striving to provide answers to your questions and help with your computer problems. We want to stop these pesky computer annoyances.
